So, you’ve heard the legends. You’ve felt the call of vanilla. And now you want in. Good. Follow these steps, and soon you’ll be knee-deep in nostalgia, questioning every life decision that led you to this moment.
Head over to the homepage and grab the zipped Vanilla client file from the download button. Yes, it’s big. No, it's not my fault. Download rate is not TOO limited from my end anyway.
Take that zip, extract it somewhere sensible on your hard drive. Please, not the desktop. No, not Program Files either. Pick a place where your inner IT professional won’t cringe.
Locate the realmlist.wtf file. Open realmlist.wtf in Notepad (or, if you’re feeling edgy, Notepad++). Delete whatever nonsense is in there and replace it with: set realmlist realms.feenixwow.com
You need a game account, not just Discord membership. So, go to the homepage or slide into our F.E.E.N.I.X. Discord bot’s DMs and make an account.
Launch WoW.exe (not any other .exe's, duh). Use your newly created credentials and step into Azeroth, the way it was meant to be.
Ah, so you’ve been around the private server block, huh? Your folder is probably filled with shady .mpq patches and questionable configs. Let’s clean up that mess.
Locate your WTF folder, and delete everything in there. Just trust me.
Check for suspicious .mpq files, usually located into the Data folder. If you see anything that wasn’t in the original 1.12.1 client, nuke it.
Once again, go to realmlist.wtf, erase whatever old trash is in there, and replace it with: set realmlist realms.feenixwow.com
Go to the homepage or register via our F.E.E.N.I.X. Discord bot.
Double-click WoW.exe, enter your credentials, and embrace true Vanilla greatness.
I'm recruiting victims volunteers so you can annoy them instead of me.
